It was supposed to be a busy Saturday for me if only laziness didn't strike. I had many plans, play badminton in the morning, play disc in the afternoon, and watch the most awaited reunion concert of the Eraserheads in the evening. None of these plans pushed through though, why? well, laziness has its own way of sneaking up on me, hehe, and all I did this whole Saturday was to bury my butt in the couch and watch CSI:Miami on dvd. Lazy.
I came home late last night because I attended a despidida party for my colleague back in my previous office. It was nice to know everyone was making a career move but then arriving there gave me a sense of nostalgia. It was my second home. It was my school, I had teachers, classmates, bestfriends, principal, and enemies. I love my life back there. Although I didn't make much out of my pay, I love the simple life, the people, the everyday conversations, real life lessons, everything except the work pressure and management. That's why I had to look for another work that will give me more than just the monthy pay but the also the opportunity for a career growth.
I was a little bit shy when I entered the floor, I didn't know if I still know the people there so I hesitated entering until I bumped into my previous officer who actually didn't recognized me until I blocked her way. She was a bit shocked when she saw me and had to take a second look before she recognized it was me. She said, "Baby! ikaw ba yan? ang payat mo!". I wasn't expecting people to comment on me losing weight. I already did lose a couple of pounds when I was still there, and they had already noticed that. I haven't been checking on my weight lately but I know I still weighed the same. But everyone was saying "ang payat mo!", someone even said, "syet! and payat mo!", I would have preferred if they said, "ang ganda mo ngayon", hehe.
It was the usual get-together-despidida eating style by the round table and of course the never ending pancit malabon, bbq, and shanghai, only now it came with an ice cream and a cake. Thank you for Con's convincing power that the officer chipped in for the food and it made everyone's stomach smile. I didn't eat though, except for the chocolate cake. Of course the party wouldn't have been complete if there was no teasing and funny antics from Con and Verlyn, and a little drama from Lheiza, hehe. The party ended with the opening of Smirnoff, hehe.
I wonder whose despidida is next.
