puerto princesa, palawan

Had my vacation last Nov 22-24, 2008 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The trip was short, a little boring, tiring, bumpy, and was done in a hurry. If going back, it would be better to choose a certain place to go to because the tourist destinations in Puerto Princcesa is far from each other and thus time consuming. To be able to travel and relax at the same time it would be better to stay at least 1 week in the said city. If you want to go to El Nido or Busuanga or Coron, that should be in a different travel date. The trip was quite worth it because of the Underground River Tour. I never thought that there could be such amazing site under that mountain. Too bad the trip was just about 45 mins because the whole underground trip will take the whole day from end to end. Another worth trying in the city of Puerto Princesa was eating in Kalui, everything from the place to the food was amazingly great. I regret not being able to stay longer in Sabang where there a lot of thing to do beside the underground river tour. I posted the photos and complete details of my trip in my multiply site.

photography assignments and seat work

Our first assignment in our basic photography 101 was to produce a photo and apply the white balance setting. And here is mine. I used a white balance setting of cloudy to exaggerate the yellow color of the curtain and the sun rays to make it seem like a hot morning.

The next was considered a seatwork. We were discussing about the composition of a photo and the different patterns (i can't remember if the term was right). Our seatwork was to produce a photo showing lines as the subject. I photographed a file organizer with folders of different colors.

We also discussed about shutter speed and aperture in our 2nd day. Our last two assignments was to produce a photo using a dynamic balance and a photo using a slow shutter speed or fast shutter speed to blur the movement or freeze the action. Here are my last two shots, the rubber shoes as the main subject with the slippers as a contrast and people crossing the pedestrian lane during rush hours.

It wasn't easy taking shots but it was fun and I really had a lot more to learn about this craft.

Digital Photography 101

I have always wanted to learn photography and I had my chance when our company held a free 3 day Basic Photography Seminar which started yesterday. It was conducted by Jay Alonzo (www.jayalonzophotography.com). Usually basic photography session takes about 19hrs which is usually done in 2 separate days but for us we only have 9hrs to learn the basic. I don't have a digital SLR and my only resource is a Canon Powershot A540, which fortunately has the basic settings which was needed for this seminar. Many of us wasn't able to attend the seminar because of the work load although the class started after office hours. This was a blessing in disguise for me because a colleague who brought his Nikon D40 didn't attend and he let me use his SLR for the session, luckily he decided to let me use it for the 3 day photo session and in exchange I have to teach him what I have learned in class..hehe

Yesterday's photography lesson sparked up my liking for photography again and this is a bad sign because I have to start saving so I could buy myself a digital SLR..tsk tsk.

Can't wait for tomorrow's lesson!...hehe

jog nights

After the ADIDAS King of the Road Marathon, I decided to go back to running/jogging after office hours. Which means I will be going back to my jog nights...hehe. Last month I was able to jog at least once a week for only 10 mins and brisk walk the rest of the hours. I usually just spend 30 mins for my exercise since my goal for the moment is just to get myself to run again. This month I scheduled my jog nights to be twice a week but I must increase my running/jogging time from 10 mins to 30. Looks like a big leap but I'll have to make myself do it if I really wanted to train. Last night was my start, I wasn't expecting myself to run/jog straight for 30 mins because I'm just starting and I wanted to do it gradually but to my surprise I was able to run/jog for 20 mins straight while maintaining my pace from start to finish. Not bad. I guess the music was a big help. It was the first time to run/jog while listening to music and it really made time fly. For the record, I weighed myself this morning and I weighed 124 lbs!!! woohoo!!! I weighed 148 lbs a year ago, which means I lost 24 lbs in a span of one year. Thank you, brown rice...hehe. I'm planning ang hoping to lose 4 more lbs this month...haay. I actually don't know the difference between running and jogging, thus the use of "/".

and the world has a black president

US as the trend setter.

thank you

Thank you. For always being my back up plan. For letting me feel hurt to help me realize there a lot of things that could make me happy. For always accepting me when I decide to come back. For making me look strong on the outside even though I know deep inside my heart is being crushed. Thank you for always catching me when I fall. Thank you.

moomoo...

qoute and qoute

This is just a forwarded email but I guess it's worth posting. Simple qoutes to help us make life much easier and much fun.

* Accept that on some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can berecalled by their Maker.
* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to be kind to others.
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because you won't have a leg to stand on.
* The second mouse gets the cheese.
* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you.The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be the only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
* We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
